The Bible is filled with verses about forgiveness of others. Before He died, Jesus said "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.".
The world is filled with flawed people that make awful mistakes. This can be exemplified through many stories in the Bible.
Adam was the first man. But he disobeyed God and ate the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
David loved God and was a man after God's own heart. But he was also an adulterer and had Uriah the Hittite killed to cover up his sin.
Paul spread the gospel to millions, but he was a Pharisee who persecuted Christians until Jesus intervened in his life.
God's grace and mercy are infinite to us. God forgives our sins when we repent and put our lives in Jesus Christ. In the light of our new beginnings, God commands that we forgive others and extend grace for people. But forgiving people is difficult! It can feel like the most difficult thing you ever do. Sometimes the pain and hurt seep through our soul like poison, which destroys us. Here are our favorite Bible verses about forgiving others.
And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;
And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.
John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. And there went out unto him all the land of Judæa, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.
And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:
And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.
What does the Bible say about forgiving people? It says that we need to forgive others in order to be forgiven by our Father in Heaven. Forgive people as Christ forgave you. If someone wrongs you, don't avenge yourselves. Instead, seek God's word for wisdom for what to do in any situation.
